PriPara is short for prism Parade, originally an arcade game and is the successor of the Pretty Rhythm series (Also in this article!) The main characters are below
Lala
A cheerful and bright Japanese young girl with purple hair who acts as the lead character.In normal mode her hair is tied up into two buns however when in Idol mode her hair grows longer and is worn in twin tails. She is voiced by Himika Akaneya, a member of i☆Ris
Mirei
One of the supporting main characters. Very smart and does "Calculations" a lot. Also adds "Pri" on the end of her sentences in Idol form. She is voiced by Yu Serizawa from i☆Ris.
Sophie
A popular idol that attends Mirei and Lala's school. Her voice actress is Miyu Kubota, a member of i☆Ris.
Kuma
A friendly bear that is Mirei's and Lala's manager.
Eiko
Lala's number one fan. A sweet girl who is a supporting character however is shown a lot. She's talented at tennis.

The second idol anime is Love live! which is about a girl named Honoka ,who to stop her school from closing down, forms a school idol project to bring more students to the school. The series follows the nine girls as they sing, laugh, train and go through life. There are currently two series and a manga. The girls in the group are below:
Honoka
The main character who starts the idol project. A second year. She hates red bean despite her parents owning a Japanese sweets shop. She is cheerful and hardworking.
Kotori
A second year. Kotori is the one who makes all the costumes
Umi
A second year. She is usually in charge of the lyrics. She's strict on Honoka. 
Energetic and tom boy who has a complex about being cute. First year who's popular among fans for her cat like appearance and personality.
Maki
Talented at playing the piano. First year.
Hanayo
A shy and timid first year who's best friends with Rin. She turns passionate over idols. She loves rice.
Eli
Student council president. Third year. Talented at dancing. Used to dance ballet in Russia.
Nozomi
Third year. The one who came up with the group name. Eli's best friend.
Nico
An energetic girl. Known for saying "Niko-Niko-Ni"

A idol anime which follows the theme of fairy tales. The girls grow more mature and older when they transform into idols.

Her fairy tale is Snow white. Ringo is a sweet and adventurous girl with short, curly, pink hair. Her parents own a bakery featuring in apple goods.
Leila Takashiro
A shy girl who's fairy tale is Cinderella
Natsuki Sasahara
Rich and fiesty girl. Her fairy tale is Princess Kasuga (Moon princess)
AKB0048
Set in the future when entertainment is banned. A brave idol group named "AKB0048" works hard to be an idol and fight for survial. There are a lot of characters so here are the main girls who sing;

The original Pri Para.It takes the form of an ice skating Idol anime which features a male cast as well (So there is romance and cute anime guys!) Here are the three main characters:
Aira
Main character. A kind and clumsy girl.
Rizumu
A hardworking girl who attends Aira's school

A popular model.

Aikatsu
The story takes place in Starlight Academy, a school for Idols. They use special cards called Aikatsu. Ichigo is inspired by Mizuki to become an idol.
Ichigo
Main character.She has a cheerful and cute personality.
Ichigo's best friend who knows a lot about idols.
Nicknamed "The beautiful blade"Her colour theme is purple which you can tell from the picture below.
Debuted in episode 10 of the anime. A bubbly girl who's in the same year as Ichigo.
Debuted in episode 19.She likes to act as a vampire, specially carrying a parasol to protect her from the sunlight.
Debuted in episode 26. Her colour theme is lime.
Debuted in episode 33.Kaeda is from America.

Probably one of the top popular idol anime's. The series follows the life of a group of girls aspiring to become idols and achieve their dreams. It's a slice of life musical bundle of fun. As well as an anime series, there's also a video game.
Haruka
The main character. A sweet, good girl who loves sweets and singing. She is also pretty clumsy.
Iori
Polite on stage, Iori possesses a sharp-tong around the girls and the producer. She always carries around a plush rabbit named Usa-chan.
Ami and Mami
Two playful twins who like teasing their friends. Ami ties her hair to the right while Mami ties her hair to the left however they look identical besides their assigned colour themes.
Aged 15. She has a laid back attitude.
The oldest among the idols at the age 20. She's kind hearted and a "Big sister" type
Age 15. She's the most mature out of the girls.
Age 16. She's a happy and friendly girl.
An energetic, hyper 14 year old girl.
Takane
An elegant, mature 18 year old girl.
Yukiho
A cry baby.
Makoto
A 17 year old girl. She wishes to become more feminine.

A new idol anime ova which should be coming out fall 2014. The series resolves around 16 girls who all want to become an idol. Instead of them trying to become the top idol, they have fun bringing energy to the town through idol events. Apparently the purpose of the anime is to promote Sagamihara city in Japan.
